The iPod touch (Sixth Generation), released July 15, 2015, featured the same housing design as the fifth generation product, minus the iPod loop. It was offered in a completely new range of colours: Space Gray, Gold, Silver, Hot Pink, Blue, and Product (RED), in either 16, 32, 64, or 128GB capacities. As for other upgrades over the 5th generation, it featured the A8 chip from the iPhone 6 (though slightly underclocked), double the RAM, 120fps at 720p slo-mo recording capabilities, and Bluetooth 4.1. Battery is slightly larger at 1043mAh compared to 1030mAh.
On July 27, 2017, the 16GB and 64GB versions were discontinued alongside the aging iPod nano (7th generation) and iPod shuffle (4th generation), making the iPod touch the only remaining iPod product sold by Apple. It was replaced in May 2019 by the seventh generation iPod touch.
This generation originally shipped with iOS 8.4, and can run up to the newest version of iOS 12 (12.5.3 as of time of editing).
