The iPod photo, also sold as the iPod with color display later in it's lifespan, is the first iPod sold with a color screen. Based off the iPod (4th generation). also known as the iPod (Click Wheel), it introduced the ability to display 16-bit color on a 2-inch, 220x176 display, as well as the ability to sync photos and the ability to display album art.

Three revisions of the iPod photo exist. The first revision came in 40 GB and 60 GB models, retailing for $499 and $599, sitting above the iPod (4th generation), which continued to be sold in 20 GB and 40 GB models for $299 and $399 respectively. The second revision, in spring 2005, bumped the price of the 60 GB model down to $449, and introduced a new 30 GB model for $349. Alongside this revision, a new software update added support for the iPod Camera Connector. A final revision, in June 2005, introduced the iPod with color display branding, lowered the price of the 60 GB model to $399, discontinued the 30 GB model, and introduced a 20 GB model for $299, replacing the monochrome iPod entirely. The iPod photo was subsequently discontinued on September 7th, 2005.
