Fifth Generation Nano

The iPod Nano 5th Generation was released on September 9, 2009. Retaining the colorful candybar form factor, Genius Mix function, photo and video support, and accelerometer of the 4th generation preceding it, the 5th generation Nano introduced a video camera with 16 special effects, microphone, taller screen (2.22 inches compared to the previous generation's 2 inches), internal speaker, FM radio, and pedometer. This generation was available in silver, black, purple, blue, yellow, orange, Product (RED), green, and pink, now with a glossy, shiny, "candy-like" finish. Yellow and Product (RED) were still only available via Apple's online store. Prices for the 16GB model was dropped by $20.

It should be noted that the headphone jack and 30-pin dock connector swapped positions in the 5th generation - headphone jack being to the left and dock connector to the right - so the 5th generation requires a different universal dock insert.
