This article is about iPodOS firmware. For external software that interacts with the iPod, see software.
Methodology
Using an IPSW file, you may restore from one in iTunes using ⇧ Shift+Restore with an iPod plugged into your system, navigating and selecting the IPSW file and iTunes will deploy your firmware of choice onto your iPod. If you run into any troubles along the way, navigate to our problem solving page.
Ensure your updaters are signed by Apple! If your updater is unsigned and or you aren't sure where it came from, DON'T USE IT! |
Using an updater, you may restore from the included firmware included with the aforementioned updater and the GUI will guide you through the firmware upload.
For older firmware that are no longer supported by Apple, we have provided iPodOS rips from iPod devices which are not sourced from Apple themselves, rather our individual devices. You may load the .bin
image files tagged with using iPodWizard, otherwise you are required to use the dd utility to burn the .bin
image onto your iPod.
Firmware List
You can find various sources for firmware for your iPod device below. In the center column you can find Apple's own IPSW file and our self-hosted IPSWs and updaters. Note that Apple's IPSW will only feature the latest firmware file released for the particular iPod whose firmware you are seeking.
